According to the agent of Brazilian sensation Endrick, three English clubs attempted to acquire the adolescent before Real Madrid's offer.
In front of thousands of spectators at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, the 18-year-old attacker is scheduled to be unveiled as a Real Madrid player on Saturday.
Endrick has been the subject of interest for supporters and clubs for several years, despite his youth, since he made his senior debut for Brazilian giants Palmeiras at 16.
Endrick's talent was so compelling that Real Madrid declared in December 2022 that he would become a club member in July 2024 upon reaching 18. Reportedly, the transaction is valued at approximately £52 million.
Endrick will be a part of a star-studded attack in Madrid, which has already included compatriots Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo, English sensation Jude Bellingham, and France striker Kylian Mbappe.
However, his agent said he could have easily landed at a Premier League club.
Frederico Pena disclosed to The Telegraph that in 2022, scouts from three major English clubs traveled to France to observe Endrick perform at the Montaigu Tournament.
The youngster demonstrated his ability to compete outside of Brazil by winning the Player of the Tournament award and scoring five goals in four games, culminating in Brazil's first victory since 1984.
"That was the moment when the world truly sat up and took notice," stated Pena.
"People in football already knew about him, but that's when all of the top clubs came in: Manchester City, Liverpool, Paris St-Germain, Chelsea, and, of course, Real Madrid."
