The Liverpool player has expressed his opinion on the individual he believes should be the next manager of the Three Lions.
The FA is searching for the next England manager following Gareth Southgate's departure. However, a Liverpool player, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has already expressed his opinion on who he believes could assume the position.
After overseeing the national team for four tournaments, Southgate's eight-year tenure as manager of the Three Lions has concluded.
In 2016, the 53-year-old assumed the role of England's manager and guided the Three Lions to the semi-final stage of the 2018 World Cup, where Croatia defeated them by a score of 2-1.
Southgate became the first England manager to lead the national team to a final since 1966 at Euro 2020. The tournament was postponed by one year to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Nevertheless, Italy ultimately defeated England on penalties after a 1-1 draw, followed by an exit from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar at the quarter-final stage against the eventual finalists, France.
And this summer in Germany, Southgate guided England to back-to-back European Championship finals. However, the Three Lions were ultimately defeated 2-1 by Spain, who had been the tournament's standout team.
After Nico Williams had put Spain ahead at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Cole Palmer came off the bench to level the score. However, as full-time approached, Mikel Oyarzabal scored a late winner to secure Spain's fourth Euros title and guarantee that England's wait for a trophy since 1966 continues.
Alexander-Arnold was a central midfielder in Southgate's final England squad that began the tournament. He was replaced by Chelsea's Conor Gallagher, who replaced Kobbie Mainoo of Manchester United.
Alexander-Arnold was recruited by Jurgen Klopp to join the Liverpool team in 2016. Klopp, who served as the manager of Anfield for nearly a decade, has since retired and been superseded by Arne Slot.
Alexander-Arnold thinks that his former manager on Merseyside would be well-received as the Three Lions manager. However, he also acknowledges that he would be taken aback if Klopp were named the new England manager. In an interview with the Mirror, Alexander-Arnold stated, "I relished every moment of our collaboration; we formed an extraordinary bond, shared unforgettable memories, and fostered an extraordinary relationship." Consequently, we would resume our previous activities if that were to occur.
"I would be taken aback if he did indeed acquire it." When he announced his departure, the conversations I had with him, and everything on social media, it was evident that he was relishing his time off. Consequently, it would be a significant surprise.
Regarding Southgate, the Liverpool player stated, "I am grateful for the memories we have shared and the opportunities I have been afforded." Gareth is underrated.
"I believe that the position of England manager is one of the most challenging in the world." People will always have their opinions, and there will always be speculation and judgment.
However, how he has directed the team and the environment for the athletes is evident to all. Although there was unity and a sense of teamwork, criticism was directed at each manager. He handled the situation extraordinarily, and once more, he secured our place in the final.
