Chelsea Chasing Striker, But €120M Price Tag Looms Large

According to a report, Chelsea is still interested in recruiting Samu Omorodion; however, he may be equipped with a €120 million release clause shortly.

Despite having already recruited Marc Guiu and Omari Kellyman this summer, the Blues are still in the market for a striker.

Chelsea was considered near certain to have secured Victor Osimhen's signature earlier this year; however, circumstances rapidly altered.

The London club terminated the pursuit of Osimhen due to their apprehensions regarding the financial package necessary to acquire him.

However, they continue to monitor the transfer saga surrounding him, as Napoli intends to replace him with the Blues' underperforming Romelu Lukaku.

Chelsea pursued several younger and potentially less expensive alternatives after abandoning Osimhen, with Samu Omorodion, a prodigy for Atletico Madrid, being the most prominent.

The 20-year-old is reportedly 'in love' with Chelsea's coach, Enzo Maresca; however, Chelsea's acquisition efforts have been unsuccessful thus far.

The player has maintained that he is not considering transfer conjecture. At the same time, Atletico Madrid has repeatedly rejected Chelsea's pursuit, resulting in speculation that the latter has abandoned their bid.

Nevertheless, Ben Jacobs contends that this is not the case. He stated that Chelsea has not abandoned their pursuit of the towering youth, even though it will be exceedingly challenging to overcome Atleti's resoluteness.

Chelsea's proposals have been consistently below €50 million, a significant distance from the Spanish team's valuation.

In the past, it was asserted that a sale would necessitate a minimum of €80 million; however, Jacobs now mentions €70 million, suggesting a fee in a comparable range.

Chelsea is in the process of finalizing a goalkeeper transfer, as Romano has indicated.

Nevertheless, Atleti persists in denying that they intend to sell. Jacobs reports that they are advocating for a new contract for the striker, enabling them to include a substantial release clause.

According to the journalist, the Madrid heavyweights want to secure Omorodion's signature on a new contract with a €120 million exit clause.

This would effectively eliminate Chelsea's prospects of acquiring him.
