Euro 2024: Ronaldo Among Players Sporting Wristband That Could Spark UEFA Action

One of the two captains of Euro 2024 sporting a provocative bracelet is Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo, a fitness fanatic, has missed the net thus far in four games for Portugal at the competition.

Thanks to a 'Whoop' attachment, critical performance data has been recorded at the showpiece

Ronaldo recently invested in the business and revealed his heart rate during the 0-0 tie with Slovenia.

Jan Oblak saved an extra time penalty for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who was in tears later.

WHOop then revealed that his heart rate was lowest as he stepped up from 12 yards for the second time, recovering to convert his spot-kick in the shoot-out triumph.

Ronaldo says the WHOOP band has had a "transformational effect" on his life, and he wears it throughout training, sleeps, and recovers.

But also an ambassador for the human performance organization is Liverpool and Netherlands skipper Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk has been sporting the band, costing £ 229 per year, during the Euros.

His activities have been recorded, from pre-game walks to gameplay in Germany.

Van Dijk gets about eight hours of sleep; hence, his sleeping behavior has also been recorded and posted online.

However, after the data was released, Whoop was charged with "ambush marketing."

Ricardo Fort, head of worldwide sponsorships at Visa and Coca-Cola, let X vent, saying, "Cristiano and WHOOP are ambush marketing to Euro 2024." The player and the company should pay a fine since it is against the law.

"The post features a player on the pitch, the score, and the names of the two competing national teams in a UEFA match.

They are illegally insinuating a connection to the occurrence. "Not having a competitor as a sponsor' does not justify allowing violations to continue."

Whoop is not a sponsor, but despite using the competition as a marketing tool, they deftly avoided mentioning the Euros by name in their content.
