A report that details the low price Manchester City player Julian Alvarez is accepting has given Arsenal and Chelsea a significant advantage in their pursuit of him.
Alvarez is presently representing Argentina internationally at the Olympic Games in Paris. When the center-forward discussed being on Man City's bench recently, it generated speculation about a possible departure from the Etihad."I haven't stopped to think about what I'm going to do," declared Alvarez. I was one of the guys on the team that played the most minutes the previous season.
However, being left out of some crucial games isn't fun in the end. I'll have time to think it over before I decide. I haven't taken the time to gather my thoughts.
"After the Olympics, I'll take some time to think about my goals for myself."
Pep Guardiola, the manager of City, responded to Alvarez's remarks with a somewhat icy demeanor, feeling that he has given the World Cup winner a reasonable amount of playing time.
Arsenal and Chelsea, two of City's Premier League opponents, were also made aware by Alvarez's remarks.
After discovering that the 24-year-old might be dissatisfied with his circumstances at City, Chelsea was among the first teams to be linked with a bid for him. However, shocking rumors surfaced on Friday that Arsenal is also a contender to sign Alvarez.
Latest from Arsenal: An alluring update on Julian Alvarez
The deadly attacker is expected to cost a total of £77 million, comprising an upfront payment of £60 million and potential add-ons of £17 million.
However, journalist Wayne Veysey has reported that Alvarez is available for almost half that £77 million price.
According to reports, City would consider selling the player for as little as £40 million. For a player of Alvarez's caliber, who has won numerous major awards and contributed 19 goals and 13 assists for City this season, that is amazing value for the money.
If Chelsea and Arsenal can sign the former River Plate ace for that lower price, they will be overjoyed as it will help them reinforce other parts of the team and save money.
It should be mentioned that the two London clubs are keeping an eye on strikers other than Alvarez. After recovering from a knee injury, Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres again piqued Arsenal's interest.
Victor Osimhen of Napoli has reportedly piqued the interest of Chelsea and Arsenal as well. Osimhen is rumored to be waiting for a move to Chelsea, but Tottenham Hotspur has entered the competition unexpectedly.
