They intend to grab the contract from another Premier League clubManchester United are allegedly close to completing a deal for their third major summer addition, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe's transformation continues at Old Trafford.
United have already signed attacker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36.5 million, while Leny Yoro has joined from Lille for up to £62 million, beating Real Madrid to the highly-rated defender.
They are in talks to sign many other players for Erik ten Hag, including Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt, who has had previous bids rejected for the Netherlands international.
However, in an unexpected scenario, United may be prepared to recruit one of his club teammates first.
According to Sky Germany writer Florian Plettenberg, United are in 'advanced talks' with Bayern Munich about signing full-back Noussair Mazraoui.
West Ham were favorites to sign the 26-year-old, who can play on either side of the defense, with the BBC reporting on Thursday that the Premier League team had agreed on a deal for the Moroccan.
It was reported that West Ham had agreed to pay Bayern an initial €16 million (£13.47 million) fee for the defender, with a possible additional €3.5 million (£2.95 million) in add-ons.
However, Plettenberg now alleges negotiations have failed, paving the way for United.
He tweeted: "Noussair #Mazraoui's agreement with West Ham is off!
"No agreement has been reached from the agent's end. Despite the agreement between the clubs and the players, West Ham has now pulled out of the negotiations.
"Manchester United are now attempting to sign Mazraoui. "Advanced talks."
