Manchester United in talks for midfielders to complement Zirkzee

Joshua Zirkzee is the first summer addition that Manchester United has declared they have signed. Still, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has discussed adding two more attackers to accompany him.

A new era is underway, with British billionaire Ratcliffe now in charge at Old Trafford after investing £1.3 billion to acquire 27.7% of the Glazers' shares. As part of that agreement, the 71-year-old, the second richest man in Britain, was given complete sports power and is keen to return Manchester United to the top circles of England and Europe.

He has spent the first few months of his leadership assembling a stellar group of experts from behind the scenes to assist United in achieving those goals and getting those wheels in motion.

And now that Omar Berrada is the United's CEO, Jean-Claude Blanc is the director, Jason Wilcox is the technical director, and Dan Ashworth is the sports director, the focus has swiftly shifted to the transfer market and the team's composition.

Therefore, Ratcliffe and company have identified several areas they wish to improve within the team. TEAMtalk has learned that the club intends to bring in at least four high-profile players, maybe as many as seven, to help them down that route.

There will undoubtedly be attention given to the side's spine. United's wish list includes a midfielder, a left-back, and possibly a right-sided forward. They want at least one, if not two, central defenders.

Zirkzee, a striker from the Netherlands, became United's first acquisition of the new era on Sunday, signing a €42.5 million agreement. However, the team is far from done bolstering their offensive line.
