Maresca Keen for €47m Move Before Jorgensen Deal

Enzo Maresca has prioritized the acquisition of a goalkeeper to enhance his options since his arrival at Chelsea this summer.

Chelsea had several goalkeepers on their radar, but the list has been reduced to a single candidate as the Blues attempt to finalize a deal for Filip Jorgensen.

Nevertheless, although Jorgensen is an exceptional goalkeeper, Maresca did not initially have his sights set on the Villareal man. Rather, he intended to recruit Mads Hermansen, another Danish athlete with whom he had previously collaborated at Leicester City.

Bold's report in Denmark asserts that Maresca designated Hermansen as his primary target and desired Chelsea to finalize a transaction for the 24-year-old.

In the end, Chelsea could not secure a player due to Leicester City's €47m valuation, and they subsequently pursued other options. Jorgensen emerged as the most suitable candidate.

It is anticipated to be an intriguing development. Jorgensen is considered one of the most talented young goalkeepers in the top five divisions of Europe and demonstrated exceptional performance in La Liga last season.

Jorgensen has the potential to be an exceptional asset to Maresca's team, and he is significantly more cost-effective than Hermansen. With a price of €24.5m, Chelsea will pay approximately half of Leicester's asking price for their goalkeeper.

Jorgensen is anticipated to endure his medical at Stamford Bridge today before signing his new contract.

It is anticipated that he will secure the position of Chelsea's primary goalkeeper, as the club is in the process of offloading players such as Kepa and is even open to considering offers for Đorđe Petrović, who delivered a series of remarkable performances toward the conclusion of the previous season.

Chelsea is anticipated to execute numerous transactions between now and the transfer window's conclusion, given that Maresca's squad is substantial and there is still much to be resolved.
