Mbappe Trails Two Barcelona Stars on La Liga Salary List

Despite the salary cap that applies to all La Liga teams, teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona are still able to give players large contracts.

Despite having a far lower yearly salary budget than the two dominant teams in Spanish football, Atletico Madrid makes an effort to compete.

We've looked at the top 10 La Liga players in terms of pay, arranged by weekly salary.

Note: All amounts stated are exclusive of taxes and do not account for the variety of bonuses found in every contract's fine language.

10. €288,462 is Thibaut Courtois.

Having won everything there is to win with Real Madrid since joining the team in the summer of 2018, Courtois is one of the six Real Madrid players on this list.

Due to an ACL injury, the Belgium international missed the majority of the 2023–24 season. However, he recovered in time to help his team defeat Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final.
With two years remaining on his Madrid contract, he is currently making €288,462 a week, or €15 million annually.

9. €320,577 to Federico Valverde

Valverde is currently among the highest-paid players at Real Madrid, despite the fact that he was formerly thought of as an unsung superstar.

The midfield player turned off a 2023 transfer to Saudi Arabia in favor of a new, long-term deal at the Bernabeu that would have increased his pay to €320,577 a week.

"I really don't think I can make it to the Saudi League," the Uruguayan international declared. Not a chance. 10, 20, or 30 million won't make a difference in my life.

"I am a member of Real Madrid, the world's greatest team." That's all. My family and I both adore our lives in Madrid.

8 Ilkay Gundogan earned €360,577.

Gundogan signed a free move to Barcelona after helping Manchester City achieve a historic treble in the 2022–2023 campaign.
In exchange for a big pay boost—from €162,075 per week at the Etihad to €360,577 per week at Camp Nou—the Germany international signed a two-year contract initially.
His first season in Spain ended in disappointment as Barcelona failed to win a trophy, despite his five goals and fourteen assists in 2023–2024.

7 = Jan Oblak – €400,577

Oblak became one of the world's greatest goalkeepers when he moved from Benfica to Atletico Madrid in 2014 for a reported €16 million.
Having won the La Liga Player of the Season honor and the La Liga Zamora Trophy, the 31-year-old was instrumental in their championship victory in 2020–2021.
With a weekly salary of €400,577, he is the best-paid player at Atletico, making €160,192 more than Antoine Griezmann.
After Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich, the international goalie from Slovenia is also the second-highest-paid goalkeeper worldwide.

6 Vinicius Junior - €400,577 -

Vinicius became one of the most expensive teens ever when he signed for Real Madrid in 2018 after activating the €45 million release clause in his Flamengo contract.
Since then, he has developed into one of the greatest players in the world, winning three La Liga championships, two Champions Leagues, two FIFA World Club Cups, a UEFA Super Cup, and a Copa del Rey with Real Madrid.
The Brazil international, whose base pay is €400,577 per week, signed a new long-term deal with Real Madrid in October 2023.
His weekly salary might increase to £480,769 thanks to several performance-related bonuses in his contract.

5: Jude Bellingham (€400,577

After agreeing to give Borussia Dortmund an upfront payment of €103 million and a further €30 million in bonuses, Real Madrid emerged victorious in the summer transfer window for Bellingham.
Madrid paid him a substantial income in addition to the transfer money; he will receive a base salary of €400,577 per week from them.
He has the same weekly pay as his Madrid teammate Vinicius Junior, with the possibility of earning an extra €80,192 in bonuses.
The England international scored 23 goals in all competitions and provided 13 assists in 2023–24, more than paying those salaries.

4. €432,692 to David Alaba

After turning down numerous offers to extend his contract, Alaba ended his 13-year relationship with Bayern Munich in 2021 and departed the team on a free transfer.
A five-year contract with Real Madrid followed his interest from Liverpool, Manchester City, PSG, Inter Milan, and Juventus.
Madrid reportedly received a €17.7 million signing bonus in addition to his current weekly salary of €432,692, so even though there was no transfer fee to pay, the defender wasn't cheap.
After Aymeric Laporte and Kalidou Koulibaly, both Saudi Pro League players, the Austrian international is presently the third-highest-paid defender in the world.

3. €600,962 for Kylian Mbappe

After the 2023–24 season, Mbappe's contract with Paris Saint-Germain ended, and he finally completed his much-anticipated move to Real Madrid.
From €1.38 million a week in Paris to €600,962 a week in Madrid, the 25-year-old has drastically reduced his salary.
In addition to the €1.24 million in weekly potential bonuses included in the contract, he is expected to receive a €150 million signing-on bonus throughout his five-year term.
Should the French international utilize every bonus included in his Madrid deal, his annual salary would be an incredible €95.83 million.
Kylian Mbappe has received a massive contract from Real Madrid.

2. €640,962 Robert Lewandowski

After eight years at Bayern Munich, Lewandowski decided to move on to a new challenge in the summer of 2022, perhaps signing a €50 million contract to join Barcelona.
Although he signed a deal that would see him paid more yearly, he was paid €400,577 weekly during his first season in Spain.

In 2023–2024, the 35-year-old striker made €520,769 per week; in 2024–2025, that amount will increase to € 640,962 per week.

As they hoped to renegotiate the agreed terms, rumors in Spain stated that Barcelona would speak with his representatives.

1. €721,154 paid to Frenkie de Jong

De Jong is the highest-paid player in Europe's top five leagues, taking home an incredible €721,154 a week base wage from Barcelona.

The Netherlands international is also eligible for add-on pay of €388,654 a week, but he has tried to clear up any confusion over his pay.
He informed reporters in October 2022 that "many lies and falsehoods have been spread about my salary."
I reduced my pay each year during my first three years of playing here. The money eventually returns and appears more significant than my regular income. Many individuals are unaware of this.
