Sporty3600 can exclusively tell that Bruno Fernandes has been given the go-ahead to examine the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund's proposal for him.
Sporty3600 previously disclosed that the initial approach for Fernandes happened in November 2023. In the subsequent months, PIF and Saudi officials became more adamant about their demands. Al Nassr and Al Ittihad are the two Saudi teams interested in him, according to sources who spoke with sporty3600 today (Friday).
In a few weeks ago meeting, both clubs had already discussed their roles, initiatives, and the potential role Fernandes would play in the team.
Along with two other Saudi Pro League teams, the PIF is the direct owner of Al Nassr and Al Ittihad.
As previously disclosed, Fernandes has preferred the Al Nassr option before their next meeting following Euro 2024. This is mainly because it would allow him to play alongside fellow countryman Cristiano Ronaldo, with whom he is rumored to have repaired their friendship.
As a result, Al Nassr is already leading the competition for the Portuguese ace and will make a final effort to persuade him to support their initiative over Al Ittihad.
Marcelo Gallardo, an Argentine coach, is in charge of Al Ittihad, which has its headquarters in Jeddah. Talents like N'Golo Kante, Fabinho, and Karim Benzema have been drawn to them. When the PIF assumed control of the club's operations, they were a financially struggling organization.
In the last two seasons, Al Nassr has finished second in the Saudi Pro League, even with Ronaldo joining the team to try and win a tenth Premier League championship. In addition to the legendary Manchester United player, they have added Sadio Mane, Otavio, Aymeric Laporte, and Portuguese coach Luís Castro.
PIF is excited about Bruno Fernandes' signing to Manchester United.
Though Fernandes's position up until a few weeks ago was geared toward staying at United, there is now cautious optimism that he can be signed to a Saudi Arabian club, regardless of where he plays.
As is typical in these negotiations, the PIF is the primary player, having already made a significant contract offer that United cannot match.
Under this arrangement, the PIF tries to win over the player before starting talks with the club, and they've been prepared to offer both enormous sums of money to persuade them to do business.
Of course, if an agreement is reached with the player, a contract must still be finalized with United, which is reluctant to allow him to leave. Even if the clubs have not yet made contact, a "difficult to refuse" offer is also being prepared for the English giants, and it won't go forward until Fernandes has given his approval in full.
Fernandes is what the PIF wants at any cost.
