Rasmus Hojlund has expressed his thoughts on Manchester United potentially signing Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich.
De Telegraaf reports that United has offered the center-back, representing the Netherlands at Euro 2024, a five-year contract until 2029.
They also say that manager Erik ten Hag has already spoken with the 24-year-old about a possible departure. De Ligt made 29 appearances for Bayern last season despite being sidelined by injury.
A transfer to Old Trafford would reunite De Ligt with Ten Hag, whom he worked under at Ajax before making the big move to Juventus.
He has frequently been associated with Manchester United in recent transfer windows. However, due to the departure of Raphael Varane and the fitness concerns surrounding their other center-backs last season, the club is now actively seeking a prominent new player.
Hojlund was the most prominent player that United acquired last summer. He joined the team from Atalanta, which is currently the champions of the Europa League. The initial cost of his transfer was £64 million, with the possibility of a further £8 million in bonuses.
The 22-year-old is returning to Old Trafford following Denmark's elimination by Germany in the final 16 rounds of Euro 2024. Before leaving for the UK, he spoke with Florian Plettenberg from Sky Sports Germany.
When questioned about the potential of teaming up with De Ligt in the upcoming season, Hojlund said it is not within his control. He,nce, h,e cannot provide an answer regarding De Ligt's signing.
"However, he possesses excellent defensive skills."
If De Ligt were to join United, he would undoubtedly like playing under Ten Hag, considering his prior remarks regarding his ex-manager.
Following the appointment of the Dutchman at Old Trafford in 2022, the Bayern star remarked, as reported by the Daily Mirror, "He is an individual who possesses a deep passion for his profession and is highly dedicated to his work. He is determined to employ every effort to enhance his team's performance."
