Mikel Arteta has been told that he "has to win" this season. If Arsenal doesn't win the title again, star players will look for ways to leave.
The Arsenal have become the biggest threat to Manchester City's record-setting four-straight Premier League titles, which Pep Guardiola has led to City's domination.
In the last two seasons, Arsenal has come up very short.
They are determined to make things right in 2024–25. Emmanuel Petit, an ex-Arsenal star who won the title in 1997–98, told BetVictor that Arteta is under a lot of pressure to do well:
"I think Arsenal will keep the pressure on Manchester City this season."
City is still the best team, but some of their best players, like Kevin De Bruyne, are nearing the end of their lives. During the Community Shield, I saw cracks starting to show. At times, Pep Guardiola looked angry with Ederson.
Arsenal is improving over time, but they need to add a few more players to get to the same level as City, whose group rotation is so good.
Many of Arsenal's star players looked mentally and physically worn out near the end of last season. This season, City will not be as good. Arsenal will get better and close the gap.
"I believe this is the year that Arsenal will win another trophy with Mikel Arteta in charge." Archeta needs to win something for the players to trust and follow him.
They won't believe you when you say you'll do better and be more competitive every season if you never win anything.
You might lose players if you win all the awards. Arts Eta's most crucial season at Arsenal so far will be this one.
Pep Guardiola, Arteta's former coach, has shown that he is ready to compete with him for the title. Petit praised the rise of another passionate Spanish manager, saying, "Pep Guardiola is the best manager in the world."
He knows, though, that the Premier League is a tough race. Even more so than last year, when Liverpool and Arsenal were both in the running for the title, it will be hard for him to win.
"Arsenal looks sure of themselves, and you can see how hard they work." Arteta has shown over the last few years that he's here to stay and wants to win the Premier League.
Guardiola is the star player. On the field, you can see the anger and emotion. The players are ready to follow him because he gives them goals and a vision.
Guardiola has been that way at City for the past few years, and Arteta is now doing the same thing at Arsenal.
City's first game as a title defender will be on the road at Chelsea on Sunday. Arsenal's first game will be at home against Wolves 24 hours earlier.
It will be essential for both teams to get off to a good start by winning their first few games.
