Benfica Plots Felix Reunion Amid Barca, Villa Interest

According to reports, Benfica is developing a strategy to surpass Barcelona and Aston Villa in pursuing former player Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid.

Felix has been seeking a departure from Atletico Madrid for nearly two years following a disagreement with manager Diego Simeone.

Now, the Record reports that Benfica is interested in reuniting the 24-year-old with the club where he began his career.

Nevertheless, Barcelona, where he spent the previous season on loan, and Aston Villa are interested in recruiting him.

According to the claim, Benfica cannot cover the £28 million ($35 million) transfer fee for 50% of the Portuguese international.

Nevertheless, the Portuguese giants will attempt to acquire Felix on loan with an option to purchase if no one signs him by August 30.

The Record has reported that Benfica can gather funds for a Felix deal by selling David Neres, a target for Napoli, for just over £25 million ($33 million).

Benfica's finances remain, it appears, quite constrained, despite the sale of Joao Neves to Paris Saint-Germain for £60m ($76m).

Felix, a former Chelsea loanee, remains uncertain where he will end up this season, with only a few weeks remaining in the transfer window. Nevertheless, he appears to have no future at Atletico, five years after signing for £113m ($144m) from Benfica.
