Casemiro Struggles as Liverpool Rout Man United

The Brazilian's alarming performance in the 3-0 friendly loss to Liverpool will increase the demand for Manchester United to sell him.

Fabio Carvalho, Curtis Jones, and Kostas Tsimikas scored the goals in a pre-season friendly against their Premier League counterparts on Saturday, during which United were dominated.

However, Casemiro's performance was the most noteworthy following a startling display.

Fabio Carvalho dribbled past the Brazilian, responsible for Liverpool's opening goal.

Casemiro lost possession 16 times during the 90 minutes, winning only two of his seven duels.

He only completed three of his twelve long passes and had a passing accuracy of only 75%.

This performance will only exacerbate United's demands to dispose of the 32-year-old this summer.

Casemiro has been listed for transfer and is amenable to departing Manchester United in exchange for an appropriate financial and sporting offer.

Nevertheless, he does not seem open to accepting a significant pay reduction, as he is the highest-paid player at Manchester United, earning £18.2 million annually.

Can Casemiro depart Manchester United this summer?
Man Utd's acquisition of the legendary midfielder from Real Madrid for over €70 million was undoubtedly their most significant move of the summer of 2022.

Some critics expressed skepticism regarding the exorbitant amount of money paid to a player who was already 30 years old.

For most of his inaugural season, the 32-year-old demonstrated exceptional performance and was instrumental in the team's victory in the Carabao Cup.

Nevertheless, his performance significantly declined during the 2023-24 season, as Manchester United experienced a calamitous Premier League and Champions League season.

United's final standing was eighth, with a negative goal difference and a lack of European qualification.

They were also eliminated from the Champions League group phases, finishing in last place in a group that included Bayern Munich, Copenhagen, and Galatasaray. They also conceded more goals than any English team in a group campaign.

Casemiro did not participate in the FA Cup final, although they emerged victorious.

Casemiro appeared to be a player who is physically incapable of enduring the demands of fast-paced football and is well past his prime.

Injuries also plagued him during the previous season.

In January, he was the subject of significant speculation regarding his potential departure from the club, as Saudi Arabian teams expressed interest in him.

Ultimately, Casemiro remained until the campaign concluded. Still, his contributions to the campaign's second half were minimal, as he could not play in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.

This summer, Manchester United has placed Casemiro on the market for sale. United is eager to eliminate his substantial compensation from its records, which has generated some interest in Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
