Cristiano Ronaldo, a former Manchester United teammate of Rio Ferdinand's, is still going strong at 39, but Ferdinand has revealed when the player will consider retiring.
The evergreen Portuguese striker helped propel Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr to the Super Cup final in his first game back in 2024–25, and he scored 50 goals for the club last season.
Some questioned his ability to play at the highest level after he went scoreless in Euro 2024, but the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has built a career out of proving his detractors wrong.
With 212 caps to his name, Ronaldo still has plenty of playing time before calling it quits. Speculation is he could play all the way to the 2026 World Cup.
The legendary player has been mum on the subject of his future plans.
However, Ferdinand asserts that he has exclusive information about his famous former Old Trafford teammate.
"I can't give too much away, but I've been doing a few bits with Cristiano behind the scenes, and he's playing for as long as he wants," he told "Rio Reacts" when asked about the possibility of CR7 retiring.
He has no plans to go anywhere. It just floored me. You'll notice it eventually, but I'd be surprised if he didn't play for at least three more years.
Ronaldo is in the last year of his deal with Al-Nassr, and the club still needs to extend his contract. Rumors have circulated that the renowned frontman may triumphantly return to Sporting, his former club, where it all started.
