Former Barcelona forward Martin Braithwaite plotting on buying former club

According to reports, Martin Braithwaite is contemplating a proposal to become the majority shareholder of Espanyol a mere few weeks after departing the club.

Last month, the former Barcelona striker terminated his contract at the RCDE Stadium to conclude his two-year tenure.

He played a key role in Espanyol's immediate return to La Liga last season by scoring the most goals in the Segunda Division play-offs, with 18 goals.

However, the Denmark international resolved to pursue a new adventure beyond Europe by joining Brazilian club Gremio, following the deposit of his contract release clause with La Liga.

After Espanyol's elevation, he disclosed that he felt disrespected by the club's hierarchy for denying him entry into the first division. This decision resulted in his exclusion from Denmark's Euro 2024 squad.

He stated, "The club extended me a renewal offer one year ago; however, it was unjust.

"Let’s see if they want me to stay here because the offer they made a year ago showed that they don’t believe in me."

Ultimately, Braithwaite determined that he did not wish to maintain his relationship with Espanyol; however, this may not indicate the conclusion of his involvement with the organization.

This is because Marca has stated that he is contemplating the acquisition of shares in the Parakeets to acquire a dominant interest in Espanyol.

It has been reported that the former Middlesbrough forward is eager to remove owner Chen Yansheng, the chairman of the Rastar Group.

Yansheng is a controversial figure among the club's supporters due to his team's relegation twice in the past three years.

According to the Spanish news agency, the player has yet to forgive him for failing to authorize his departure last year.

Braithwaite is reputed to have a net worth of approximately £250 million due to his ownership of a real estate business in the United States.

NYCE Companies, which he co-founded with his uncle Philip Michael, is a thriving enterprise dedicated to providing affordable housing to the black community in Philadelphia and New Jersey.

In 2021, he told The Philadelphia Inquirer, "I have always had this American side."

"I believe that this is why my mindset is more American: setting ambitious goals, achieving remarkable feats, and documenting them."

"The Danish government has implemented an exceptional system to safeguard the populace."

"Everyone is in good health." There is no requirement for anything. In the United States, the situation is not entirely comparable.
