Frank Addresses Toney Future Amidst Heavy Interest

Despite the interest of Premier League clubs and Saudi Arabia, Brentford manager Thomas Frank has stated that he does not anticipate Ivan Toney departing the Gtech Community Stadium this summer.

In January 2024, Toney returned to the Bees' squad after serving an eight-month suspension for violating Football Association betting regulations.

The 28-year-old could not regain his peak form after his return, scoring only four goals and assisting on two occasions in 17 matches during the latter half of the previous season.

Toney was included in Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2024, and although he did not commence any of the matches in Germany, he made a few significant contributions.

Brentford's forward came off the bench to assist Harry Kane in the Three Lions' victory over Slovakia in the last 16 and scored a penalty in the shootout against Switzerland.

Brentford to retain Toney in 2024-25?
Toney has consistently expressed his desire to transfer to a Premier League club participating in Europe this summer and has yet to agree to a new contract with Brentford.

The Bees were on the brink of parting ways with the 28-year-old this summer; however, they imposed a £60m asking price on him, which scared off numerous potential buyers.

Over the summer, the England international has been associated with numerous clubs, such as Manchester United and Chelsea.

Additionally, Al-Ahli of the Saudi Pro League is believed to have expressed interest in him.

Nevertheless, in an interview with Sky Sports, Brentford's manager, Thomas Frank, hinted that the forward could remain at the Gtech even after the September 1 deadline.

"There has been considerable discussion regarding Ivan's potential departure from the club this summer." He remains a Brentford player at this time.

"We are inching closer to his decision to remain a Brentford player." I am becoming increasingly enthusiastic about this, as he is a distinguished player.

"I enjoy collaborating with Ivan, and we maintain a positive rapport." Frank informed reporters, "I anticipate that he will be a Brentford player on September 1."

Toney has been the leading scorer for Brentford in two of their three Premier League seasons under Frank, scoring 36 top-flight goals. His continued presence at the club will be crucial for the team in the months ahead.

Is Toney reconsidering the Saudi offer?
Toney has acknowledged that he prefers to remain in England and contend with one of the Premier League's top clubs in Europe.

Nevertheless, the striker may reconsider his stance in light of Saudi clubs' significant interest in his services, as English clubs need more time to meet Brentford's asking price.

According to Foot Mercato, Al-Ahli, the team most interested in the England international, is prepared to provide him with an extraordinary £15 million per year contract if he relocates to the Middle East.

Although this sum is insignificant compared to the extraordinary salaries that Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar receive in the Premier League, it represents a 15-fold increase for Toney, who is rumored to earn approximately £1 million annually at Brentford.

If he is not sold, the 28-year-old can depart as a free agent after the upcoming season, as he is currently in the final 12 months of his contract with the Bees.
