Garnacho's Gem Echoes George Best Legacy

In the Community Shield, Alejandro Garnacho scored the team's first goal in almost 60 years, making him the youngest star to do so since George Best.

In the 82nd minute, Garnacho scored the first goal for United. He was the youngest player to score in the Community Shield in 19 years. With the goal, Garnacho became the youngest United star to score in a game since George Best did it in 1965.

It took penalties because Garnacho's goal wasn't enough to win for United against their rivals. Bernardo Silva's equalizer made it a tie. City won the Community Shield because Jadon Sancho and Jonny Evans missed crucial penalty kicks in the shootout.

However, United fans will be encouraged by their performance, especially Garnacho's, ahead of the new season.

Last season, Garnacho played more minutes than any other teenager in the Premier League. He also had more touches in the other team's box than any player under 21 in the top five European teams.

Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho scored against City in May, making them the first teens to score in the FA Cup final in 20 years.

Erik ten Hag was still optimistic about the new season, even though they lost, especially after seeing stars like Casemiro play well. United will play their first Premier League game next Friday against Fulham.

They hope to have two new players on the field after agreeing to terms with Bayern Munich for defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
