Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has advised Chelsea to allow Enzo Maresca, the new head coach, sufficient time to establish himself at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca was appointed as Chelsea's fourth permanent manager in June, following the mutual decision to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino after the previous season under the stewardship of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
Maresca has since supervised the recruitment of ten new players this summer, with additional additions anticipated. However, he has only won in one of his six preseason matchepreseasons managers.
The 44-year-old is a relative newcomer to the first-team managerial scene, having previously managed Parma for only 14 games before winning the Championship title in command of Leicester City last season in his one and only annual tenure at the club.
Maresca was a junior team coach at Manchester City before being appointed Leicester's assistant coach.
He later assumed the role of first-team assistant under his current manager, Pep Guardiola.
On Sunday, the two managers will reunite as Man City travels to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in their inaugural Premier League contest of the 2024-25 season.
Guardiola: "Chelsea must allow Maresca to develop"
Guardiola lavished praise on Maresca during a pre-match press conference on Friday and has recommended that Chelsea remain committed to the Italian, regardless of the team's struggles in the early stages of the new season.
"Indeed, we are delighted to have him back." "I encountered him in the United States a few weeks ago, and we eagerly anticipate his return," Guardiola informed reporters.
"The work that Enzo completed at Leicester is the property of him and his team." I have no impact on Leicester's re-promotion.
"I did not make any saves or score a goal." I provide information, and they absorb it. It is present in both parties, and the individuals' collective success is theirs.
"I suggest that Chelsea allow him time, and it will be successful." Time is a necessity for all administrators.
I am curious whether Chelsea is the appropriate location for this endeavor; however, it will be successful if they provide him with sufficient time. This is my sentiment.
Guardiola is "expecting the best" from Manchester City in their upcoming match against Chelsea.
The previous season saw Guardiola's team secure a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title, finishing 28 points ahead of Chelsea in sixth. They are now ready to start the new season.
Guardiola has emphasized that his players must immediately establish themselves to maintain their status at the pinnacle of English football as the citizens strive for their fifth consecutive top-flight title.
"We prioritize the remaining items without hesitation." "I would be delighted to allocate additional time, but it is how it is," stated the Catalan coach.
"Against Chelsea, I anticipate the utmost performance on Sunday."
"We recognize the necessity of capturing points promptly, and the players must be prepared when they are in better physical condition and more fit."
"I am uncertain about the outcome." Everyone knows that our circumstances are not ideal; however, the desire and effort to succeed are paramount and the sole determinants of our fate.
The team exhibits a strong sense of unity and is committed to completing their responsibilities.
"I think there are not many teams that are currently flawless." After many years of experience, I have learned that the season is exceedingly lengthy.
The athletes must be mentally prepared, and this necessitates adequate rest.
In their final encounter during the preseason in the United States earlier this month, Manchester City defeated Chelsea by a score of 4-2, with striker Erling Haaland contributing a hat trick.
