Pep Guardiola was impressed by how hard Jack Grealish worked in preseason. However, he will only start games if he stays consistent.
Guardiola said that the English winger Grealish did a good job in pre-season.
After a disappointing season with Manchester City last year, Jack Grealish had a good pre-season. He was even dropped from England's Euro 2024 team earlier this summer.
But the winger has been working hard for the past few weeks and recently played great in the club's pre-season match against Barcelona.
The 28-year-old's anger and dedication on the field caught the attention of boss Pep Guardiola, who gave him lots of praise. But the Catalan coach also clarified that his spot in the team's starting lineup for the next season will rest on how well he plays all season.
Before the game, the boss told the press, "What I've seen so far here, one week in the pre-season on tour, I loved it."
I don't care how he does; what matters is that he commits and tries every session. Against Barcelona, he made five or six shots and was aggressive with the ball; his ability will take care of the rest.
"He's going to be a dad soon, and we're so excited about that." Every player only needs to say, "Yes, you like to play football, so play."
His performance will depend on whether he can keep it up until the end of the season and fight with everyone else for a spot in the starting XI. Because of how you behave, train, and act, the better you do, the better chance you have.
Today is the first game of the new season. The defending English winners play Manchester United in the Community Shield at Wembley.
