Kimmich Hints at Role Under Kompany, Rejects PSG

 

After declining a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, Joshua Kimmich disclosed his position of play under the new manager, Vincent Kompany.

Earlier this summer, the seasoned German midfielder, capable of playing as a full-back, was rumored to be considering a departure from Bayern Munich. 

However, he recently declined a transfer to PSG and is reportedly preparing to sign a new contract.

After playing a significant role in the club's pre-season friendly victory over Tottenham last week, the 29-year-old had lavished praise on Kompany. 

He has now indicated his position under the Belgian in the upcoming 2024-25 campaign.

During a charity event, the player disclosed to Sky Sports, "I have exclusively trained and competed in central midfield thus far." At present, that is the action plan. 

In general, [Kompany] is aware, I am aware, and we all know that I am capable of playing both positions. The instructor will determine the final destination.

When asked about Kompany's training techniques, he responded, "He is extremely structured." You can recognize that it is crucial to him that the content is conveyed and that it reaches us. "He is exceedingly motivated and prioritizes the team spirit."

The Germany international is expected to be included in the Bayern Munich squad that will face Tottenham in a second consecutive pre-season exhibition in London on Saturday.
