Liverpool Eyes Free Agent to Pair With Zubimendi

It is said that Liverpool wants to sign free agent Adrien Rabiot and their big deal for Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi.

The Reds can use a €60m (£51.4m) release clause in Zubimendi's contract with Imanol Alguacil's team to get him. They are fighting tooth and nail to get him.

The problem is that Liverpool must pay the full fee to get Zubimendi. They are reportedly trying to work out a different payment plan, so they have yet to use that option.

There is still hope that Zubimendi will play for Liverpool in 2024–25, but it looks like they want to strengthen their engine room with a cheap signing regardless of whether the 25-year-old joins the Merseyside giants.

The Mirror says that Liverpool manager Arne Slot is determined to bring Rabiot to Anfield because he thinks the 29-year-old's experience will be significant for his team.

Rabiot is "interested" in moving to the Premier League.

The French player is among the most sought-after free agents after his deal with Juventus expired. Juventus tried to come to an agreement with Rabiot's camp but failed.

After a memorable time with Manchester United two years ago, the 29-year-old has never played in the Premier League before but is said to be eager to try himself in England's top league.

Rumor has it that Rabiot was almost going to join Manchester United, but the Frenchman changed his mind about leaving Turin, ending the deal.

Even after Rabiot's previous contract expired, Juventus kept discussing a new one with his representatives. However, a couple of weeks later, the Bianconeri confirmed that the midfielder had ended his relationship with the club.

The 29-year-old player, who joined Juventus for free from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 and has never been charged a transfer fee, scored 22 goals and set up 15 others in 212 games across all competitions for the Old Lady.

Rabiot played briefly with Manchester City's youth academy in the first half of the 2008–09 season, but his outrageous wages and signing-on fee could make a deal less likely.

Arsenal and Manchester United, two teams in the same Premier League as Liverpool, are also strongly linked with the French player, who started five of France's six games at Euro 2024.

If Liverpool can sign Rabiot and Zubimendi, the Reds are said to be okay with 31-year-old Wataru Endo leaving after only one season at Anfield.

Even though the Japanese player did well once he got used to English football, his age means the 25-year-old Zubimendi is a better long-term choice for the number six spot.

Marseille offered £12 million for Endo, but it was turned down. They are ready to make another better offer if Endo's team permits them to do so.
