Liverpool Finalizes £27.5m Deal for Attacker

 

The former Fulham starlet, who was loaned out to RB Leipzig and Hull City last season, experienced mixed success. He failed to make the mark in Germany before impressing with the Tigers in the Championship.

Carvalho has since demonstrated his value to Arne Slot as one of the standouts of Liverpool's pre-season period, capitalizing on the international absences of Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota.

The 21-year-old was reportedly the subject of a failed £15m offer from Southampton earlier this month, and he scored in victories over Arsenal and Manchester United during the Reds' tour of the USA.

Slot would have been unlikely to guarantee Carvalho consistent minutes after Jota and Gakpo's return from Euro 2024 duty, even though he was purportedly content to remain at Liverpool if he had been given assurances regarding his playing time.

The Portugal junior international will depart Liverpool after only 21 competitive appearances for the Reds. All these appearances occurred during his debut season during the 2022-23 campaign, during which he scored three goals in all competitions.

Initially, Carvalho was afforded numerous opportunities under Jurgen Klopp that year. However, he was relegated to the back of the line in the campaign's latter half and could not score or assist in 15 games for RB Leipzig the previous year.

Brentford is reportedly finalizing the loan acquisition of Napoli's Jens Cajuste, and the 21-year-old will become the club's second signing of the summer, following striker Igor Thiago, who sustained a severe knee injury during the preseason.

Liverpool's sole permanent sale this summer has been center-back Billy Koumetio to Dundee, even though Adrian, Thiago Alcantara, and Joel Matip have all left on free transfers, and the youthful duo of Calvin Ramsay and Lewis Koumas have gone on loan.
