Liverpool Looks to Hijack Arsenal's Striker Target With £60m Bid

A former Tottenham forward has hinted at a return to north London. Liverpool are prepared to deliver a stunning blow to Arsenal's chances of landing a top striker this summer as they prepare a £60 million offer of their own.

Liverpool Makes a Significant Advance in the Lethal Striker Chase

Liverpool is reportedly prepared to match Sporting Lisbon's asking price for Viktor Gyokeres, which would be a significant setback for their Premier League rivals Arsenal.

In his 50 appearances across all competitions, the Swedish international enjoyed an extraordinary debut season at Sporting, following his £17million transfer from Championship outfit Coventry.

He contributed an outstanding 43 goals and 15 assists.

The European elite have undoubtedly taken notice of his all-round performances and those statistics. A report earlier this week states that the Gunners designated him as their primary attacking target.

Although the Gunners have been attempting to acquire Gyokeres for a reduced fee, his contract currently includes a €100m (£86m) release clause.

According to the report, Mikel Arteta's team is allegedly "prepared to bid" for Gyokeres. However, there is still a "gap in valuation."

Arsenal is "willing to pay approximately €60 million (£52 million) for Gyokeres," while Sporting Lisbon "wants at least" €70 million (£60 million) to persuade them to sell in the summer.

Liverpool is prepared to surpass the Gunners in the pursuit of Gyokeres.

Although Sporting's willingness to negotiate is advantageous for Arsenal, recent reports from Portugal indicate that Liverpool is prepared to surpass the Gunners with an offer of their own for the potent attacker.

It has been reported that Arne Slot's team is prepared to meet Sporting's €70 million valuation for their prized asset and is confident in securing a deal that would be a devastating strike to their Premier League rivals.

Despite Darwin Nunez's improved performance during his most recent season, the Anfield team is seeking a new No. 9.

The Uruguayan international scored 18 goals and supplied 13 assists in 54 games across all competitions.

However, there is a sense in Merseyside that he is missing too many opportunities, which is why there is a genuine interest in Gyokeres.
