Liverpool Reportedly Closing In on Euro 2024 Talent

Giorgi Mamardashvili, a goalkeeper for Valencia, is supposedly in talks to join Liverpool.
After failing to pursue Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi, the Reds have yet to complete their first summer move.

Although rumors suggested that Liverpool was making headway in pursuing Real Sociedad midfielder Zubimendi, the player finally chose to remain in San Sebastian.

Despite their disappointment with one of their targets, the Reds are in a solid position to snag a goalkeeper from La Liga.

Liverpool formulate a strategy for Mamardashvili.
Reporter Fabrizio Romano claims that Liverpool has devised a strategy to recruit Mamardashvili, but the Reds may have to wait a year before seeing him play for them.

As per Liverpool's plan, Mamardashvili would play for Bournemouth in 2024–25 before officially joining Anfield the following summer.

Due to Premier League regulations, Liverpool cannot sign Mamardashvili, 23, and immediately loan him out to the Cherries; thus, his transfer from Valencia must be permanent or a loan switch.

According to the update, Mamardashvili reportedly agreed to personal terms with the Premier League club and has already accepted Liverpool's offer.

A second option would be for Liverpool to sign the Georgian international and then have Valencia play his season on loan.

What makes Mamardashvili an attractive signing for Liverpool?
Alisson Becker is still the starting goalkeeper with 263 appearances in all competitions throughout his six years with Liverpool.

There is considerable uncertainty about whether the Brazil international will stay at Anfield until his contract expires in 2027, as he has been linked with a transfer to Saudi Arabia.

After being impressed by Mamardashvili's performances for club and country, Liverpool has decided he will be Alisson's long-term successor.

He joined Valencia from Dinamo Tbilisi in 2021, and since then, the Georgian has become one of La Liga's top goalkeepers.

According to Opta, Mamardashvili had the best record of any goalie in La Liga last season, stopping 9.7 goals.

Georgia made it to the round of 16 at their first major competition, thanks mainly to Mamardashvili's stellar play during the tournament.
