Liverpool Steal Arsenal's Prize: Long-Term Target Joins Reds - Ornstein

According to David Ornstein, Real Sociedad anticipates Martin Zubimendi will be amenable to joining Liverpool.

Slowly but definitely, the Reds are approaching a significant transfer coup. David Ornstein of The Athletic anticipates that Liverpool can negotiate personal terms with Zubimendi, the hero of Real Sociedad.

This obstacle was not overcome by Arsenal, Barcelona, or any other potential candidates, as the midfielder had previously demonstrated his reluctance to depart his hometown club despite the substantial interest of some of Europe's most prominent clubs.

Liverpool has successfully persuaded the 25-year-old Spanish talent to depart, a feat that Mikel Arteta, a fellow Basque and former Erreala player, could not accomplish.

Nevertheless, a transaction is still far from being executed at this time.

Liverpool desires Zubimendi.

Sporty360 exclusively disclosed Liverpool's interest in Zubimendi in February. Last summer, the Reds enlisted four midfielders; however, Wataru Endo, a veteran, was the sole player with experience as a No.6.

The issue of what to do with that position persisted throughout the season and was ultimately brought up in the preseason. Arne Slot tested Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai in that capacity.

Despite his praise for Gravenberch, Slot recognized that a player more accustomed to the controller role was necessary, as he did not desire a destructor in that position.

Liverpool's pursuit of Zubimendi was disclosed by The Athletic on Wednesday morning, and Fabrizio Romano later stated that the Reds were prepared to devote their entire attention to securing the Spaniard's signature.

They have successfully persuaded Zubimendi; however, his €60 million release clause remains a potential impediment. Full payment must be made in a single installment if it is triggered.

This could potentially necessitate Liverpool to engage in formal negotiations with Real Sociedad and may ultimately prove problematic.
