Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has stated that the defender Tyrell Malacia is still a considerable distance from resuming his duties due to his injury.
The Dutch defender has not participated in any form of football since sustaining an injury to his knee during UEFA Nations League play for the Netherlands in June 2023.
He underwent surgery and was expected to return in January of last year; however, he encountered an obstacle during his recuperation and could not participate in the entire campaign.
He has resumed individual training, but he is still far from fully recovering.
Ten Hag told reporters, "He is currently in a favorable state; however, he is not present because I exclusively recruited players capable of participating in games or team training."
He is not that far away; however, he is currently in a state of progress. He can resume team training and contribute to the team's performance in contests with relatively little notice.
It would be feasible within two months.
United were without a left-back for a significant portion of the previous campaign due to Malacia's extended absence and Luke Shaw's injury complications.
They signed Sergio Reguilon on an emergency loan but terminated the agreement in January, anticipating that Malacia would return shortly. The Dutch defender is expected to be absent until at least October.
