It is said that Manchester City is thinking about paying a lot of money to get Crystal Palace player Eberechi Eze.
The Citizens were said to be interested in the 26-year-old player near the end of last summer when they were looking to replace Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez.
After failing with a £60 million bid for Eze on the last day of the transfer window, Pep Guardiola's team spent a lot of money on Jeremy Doku and Matheus Nunes.
Eze became one of Crystal Palace's best players during the 2023–24 season, making 31 starts in all competitions, scoring 11 goals, and setting up 6 others.
The versatile midfielder, who can play in the middle or on either wing, was called up to Gareth Southgate's England side for Euro 2024 because of how well he played for his club team.
Eze came on as a replacement for the Three Lions three times, but they lost to Spain in the final. After a break after Euro 2024, he will return to working for his club as Palace go on a pre-season tour of the United States.
Before he went to Euro 2024, Palace's No. 10 was heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park. Now that the tournament is over, he is still being tipped for a big-money move to another team.
Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal are all said to be interested in the midfielder this summer. Man City, the defending Premier League winners, is also interested.
The Citizens have "long-standing admiration" for Eze, according to The Mirror. They are especially impressed by how low-maintenance he is and how he can play in several places.
The story also says that Manchester City is considering moving for Eze. He has three years left on his contract with Palace and can be released for £60m plus add-ons, making him worth around £68m.
Man City is interested in Eze at a time when star playmaker Kevin De Bruyne's future at the Etihad Stadium is uncertain because he is now in the last year of his deal.
After nine seasons with the club, the 33-year-old has scored 102 goals and set up 170 others in 382 games, winning 16 titles. He is the longest-serving player on Guardiola's current team.
There have been rumors lately about De Bruyne and a possible move to Saudi Arabia. It is now known that Belgium International has not agreed to terms with joining Al Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League.
Still, Al Ittihad is thought to be pushing hard to finish the statement signing of the playmaker. The player has previously said that he might find it hard to turn down a big-money contract offer from the Middle East now that he is nearing the end of his career.
There was no room for De Bruyne in Man City's original pre-season squad before their trip to the United States, but he will likely join Guardiola's team soon.
