Man United Eyes €50M Striker to Bolster Hojlund

It's not easy for Manchester United to find a second striker to back up Rasmus Hojlund, but one player could give them what they need for a bit of money to make their team stronger.

Erik ten Hag's team should consider signing Jonathan David, a forward for Lille. David, 24, is out of contract next summer and has clarified that he wants to try something new.

With an estimated transfer value (ETV) of €43.5 million and a rumored asking price of €50 million, he is not exactly the cheapest player available. Still, Man United will need to make some big purchases if they want to return to where they were.

SciSports says he was the best center forward in Ligue 1 last season, even though he had a slow start.

He ended the season with 19 goals. In fact, the scorer who used to play for Gent guarantees goals, having scored at least 15 in each of his last three seasons with LOSC.

You could compare him to Dominic Solanke in the Premier League. Tottenham chose Solanke over David this summer while looking for a main striker.

SciSports also says that based on his statistics, he can walk right into the first team at Old Trafford and start playing right away. According to data analytics experts, he is a better choice than Hojlund, who is hurt, even though he has less potential.

Benjamin Andre, Jonathan's Lille partner, recently said, "Jonathan is not only important as a striker, but also because of his personality, great state of mind, and sense of sacrifice." This shows that Jonathan's effect on the team goes beyond his stats.

What could go wrong for United is that David differs from Hojlund as a center forward.

The North American mostly plays as a poacher, while Hojlund is a pushing forward or even a shadow striker.

While this might give Ten Hag a new way to break down defenses, it also means that David might need help fitting in with United's style of play.

Jonathan David vs. Rasmus Hojlund: How they play

The player definitely looks like he wants to move to England. He has already turned down the chance to move to Serie A with Roma.

On the other hand, Lille doesn't think anything bad will happen.

Olivier Letang, president of France, told L'Equipe that anything could happen with Jonathan David. He is focused on our European games because we want to make it to the Champions League.

"Lille doesn't need to sell." Luckily, the Champions League is not very important to us. There is one certain thing: he will not leave if we can not find someone to replace him.

David is the kind of player that Manchester United should be interested in, even though his style of play isn't perfect for the Old Trafford team. He is sure to score goals, has a fair price tag, and wants to play in the Premier League.
