Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, has disclosed that he received "concrete offers" to depart the Red Devils this summer before signing a new contract.
On Wednesday, the 20-time English champions announced that Fernandes had signed a new contract at Old Trafford until June 2027, with the option of an additional 12 months.
Earlier this summer, there was considerable speculation regarding the destiny of the Portugal international, with numerous prominent European clubs and teams in Saudi Arabia purportedly monitoring his circumstances.
The 29-year-old stated that he received "concrete offers" to leave the Red Devils this summer but ultimately decided to remain in Manchester.
"The club's endorsement of my abilities was paramount to me." The club was aware that my departure was possible, even though I was approached by other clubs. I had concrete offers," Fernandes stated to ESPN Brasil.
"However, the club demonstrated that it required my assistance, that it was in a state of transition, and that they desired to implement a novel approach."
"I think the changes occurring at this club are the beginning of a dream future." That is the reason I elected to remain.
"There were alternative paths that would have intrigued me, as well as alternative expectations."
However, I am content with my surroundings, as I am cherished and feel that the institution has treated me with the utmost respect.
Fernandes joined Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020. In 234 appearances across all competitions, he has contributed 79 goals and 67 assists.
Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui have all been acquired by Man United during the current summer transfer window.
Additionally, Erik ten Hag's team is purportedly progressing in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain regarding a potential acquisition of Manuel Ugarte.
In response to Luke Shaw's most recent injury setback, it is believed that the club has submitted an offer for Ferdi Kadioglu of Fenerbahce.
Additionally, there have been allegations that a new attacker could be recruited before the transfer window's conclusion. However, this would necessitate a significant departure, as Jadon Sancho is closely associated with PSG.
Man United will commence their 2024-25 Premier League campaign with a match against Fulham at Old Trafford on Friday night, following their penalty shootout loss to Manchester City in the Community Shield last weekend.
