Manchester United Complete Signing of Matthijs de Ligt

Matthijs de Ligt has been officially signed by Manchester United from Bayern Munich.

The Netherlands international signed a five-year deal with Manchester United after the club paid €45 million for him.

When De Ligt knew he was going to Manchester United, he told the club's website, "As soon as I heard that Manchester United wanted me, I felt excited about the chance for a new challenge at such a historic club."

"What happened next impressed me by the vision the football leadership laid out and the part they saw for me in it."

As someone who helped me start my career, Erik ten Hag knows how to get the best out of me. I can't wait to work with him again. I know what it takes to do well at the top level, and I'm set on keeping that record at this special club.

Even though Ten Hag signed Leny Yoro for €62 million, he still wanted to add another central defender to his first team. De Ligt, a star player for Bayern, quickly became one of his top targets.

The Dutchman used to work for Ten Hag at Ajax and was excited to work with his old boss again. They quickly agreed on a deal that would last until 2029.

However, the move was pushed back because of Euro 2024, and Manchester United couldn't reach a deal with Bayern.

While this happened, Manchester United signed Yoro, and De Ligt's move seemed more uncertain. And in the end, everything worked out well. Manchester United paid €45 million plus a €5 million deal to match Bayern's €50 million asking price.

Manchester United signs De Ligt. De Ligt comes to Old Trafford after two unhappy stays at Juventus and Bayern. The once-talked-about Ajax star hasn't lived up to the hype and has had difficulty getting regular minutes over the past year.

De Ligt is, however, still only 24 years old and a very good center-back. The people at Manchester United are sure that Ten Hag can help his fellow countryman get back to the form he had at Ajax.

Since the defender joined Juventus for €85.5m and Bayern for €67m, this seems like a pretty good deal for Manchester United at €50m.

The fact that Manchester United made this deal without losing a key defense player is intriguing. There are probably not many deals that Ten Hag and his team can make this summer, even though there are still parts of the team that could use some improvement.
