Even though Chelsea had a bad preseason, Enzo Maresca is still optimistic about their season.
In the pre-season, Chelsea had a terrible time. They only won one of their six games, including a United States tour.
Sunday was the Blues' last pre-season game before the 2024–25 season began. They played Inter and were able to tie the Serie A winners 1–1 thanks to a late goal from Lesley Ugochukwu.
Even though his team had a string of bad results, manager Maresca decided to focus on the good things he saw in their games.
For example, he said he thought they played better against the Nerazzurri. He was also sure the Blues would keep improving as the season went on.
When asked about the friendly, the boss told reporters, "Absolutely, we can see clear results from our work."
We tried to keep the ball today. Inter is very good at defense, but the team is already doing well. Without a doubt, it's the most important thing.
This team will get better over time. We've only been together for a month, but I can already tell the team is improving.
Their first game in the Premier League will be on Sunday at Stamford Bridge against Manchester City, the current English winners.
