Hugh Kane has been told that his second season at Bayern Munich will be "more difficult" because Lothar Matthaus doesn't think he will score 36 goals again.
On a personal level, England captain Kane had a good first season at the Allianz Arena. Again, he didn't win any big awards because Bayern had a rare season without a trophy.
However, he scored 44 goals across all competitions, with 36 goals in the Bundesliga.
After losing the European Championship final with England, Kane is back for more in 2024–25. He will be expected to lead from the front as boss Vincent Kompany starts a new era.
The former Tottenham striker is still vital, even though he is 31. He has been told that things will not get any easier if he wants to end his lack of silverware.
Matthaus, a former player for Bayern, told Sport Bild about Kane, "It wasn't his fault that Bayern didn't win a title."
But even though he scored 36 goals, the last 12 months have not gone as he had hoped, especially with the European Championship, which made him sad.
Bad back pain, not making many touches with the ball, being taken off as captain, and losing the second straight final are things that stick out in your mind.
Matthaus also said that Kane was "looking forward to Bayern because he will be much more involved there than in the English national team's game."
As a small response, he said, "The freshness and newness of last year is gone for now. It will be harder for him." He probably won't score 36 goals again.
Kane played for Bayern in a friendly match against the Spurs, and he is ready to go for the 2024–25 season, starting on August 25 against Wolfsburg.
His deal is still good for three years, so he still has much time to succeed in Germany.
