Modric Claims Record as Real Madrid's Most Decorated Player

 

As he relishes in his 27th trophy success, Croatian Luka Modric has surpassed only one Real Madrid player in decoration.

Modric joined the Blancos in 2012 from the Premier League club Tottenham. In 2018, he won the Ballon d'Or. After that, he made more than 530 appearances for the Spanish powerhouses, during which time he contributed to an impressive haul of major trophies.

With Carlo Ancelotti at the helm, his most recent accomplishment was a 2-0 victory over Atalanta in the 2024 UEFA Super Cup. In that match, the reigning Champions League champions won another trophy thanks to new "Galactico" Kylian Mbappe.

As captain of Real Madrid, Modric was the one to hoist the cup. More medals have been bestowed upon him than any other Madrid player thus far. 

Four La Liga championships, two Copas del Rey, five Spanish Super Cups, five FIFA Club World Cups, six Champions Leagues, and five UEFA Super Cups are all part of his trophy case.

The evergreen 38-year-old has moved ahead of Nacho, the former Real captain who became a free agent this summer and left Santiago Bernabeu, by one trophy. Dani Carvajal, who won Euro 2024, has 26 victories, while Marcelo and Karim Benzema have 25.
