RB Leipzig has confirmed the official re-signing of Xavi Simons, an attacker for Paris Saint-Germain, on a 2024-25 season loan.
Despite receiving substantial interest from numerous top-tier European clubs, the Netherlands international returned to the Bundesliga after spending the previous season on loan.
Simons was reportedly interested in signing with Manchester United, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich this summer; however, he has elected to return to Leipzig on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old was eager to depart PSG again this summer; however, the Ligue 1 champions were only willing to permit a temporary departure.
Following his second loan stint at Leipzig, he will return to the Parc des Princes in 2025.
Simons scored eight goals and provided 11 assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances last season. Additionally, he contributed four goals in eight Champions League games.
The Parisians evidently regard the Dutchman as a player who has the potential to become a first-team hero in the future, even though he still has three years remaining on his current PSG contract.
Nevertheless, Simons appears unconvinced of his ability to secure consistent playing time this season, so he has chosen to return to Leipzig temporarily.
Leipzig has acquired exceptional KRC Genk goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt and young Schalke midfielder Assan Ouedraogo for €10 million each thus far this summer.
The Spaniard, who spent the latter half of the previous season on loan with the Serie A giants, has signed a permanent contract with AS Roma for €5.2 million. Angelino is the most notable departure.
This season, Simons will wear the number 10 jersey at Leipzig.
The club announced on their official website that Xavi will undergo his medical at Cottaweg on Monday and subsequently train independently for the first time since his return.
On Tuesday, the assailant will participate in a press conference and subsequently train with the team for the first time. Questioning will be available.
