Ranking the Hottest Moves of the Summer Transfer Window

20. Lamine Camara - €15 million from Metz to Monaco

AS Monaco has acquired Lamine Camara, one of the most captivating midfielders in Ligue 1, for a relatively low sum of €15 million.

After netting two goals and providing five assists in all competitions last season, the 20-year-old has earned over 20 caps for Senegal.

Monaco has acquired an exceptionally gifted two-way midfielder at a meager cost.

19. Ian Maatsen - Aston Villa to Chelsea (€44.5m)

Ian Maatsen was never awarded a genuine opportunity to play for Chelsea's first team, and he has now departed permanently following four loan stints.

The Netherlands international demonstrated his ability to compete consistently in the Champions League during his tenure at Borussia Dortmund last season.

He will improve the quality of Villa's starting XI, but his transfer fee is relatively costly, and the club already has Lucas Digne and Alex Moreno. Consequently, he is ranked 19th.

18. Emile Smith Rowe - Arsenal to Fulham (€31.8m)

Fulham have placed their faith in their ability to initiate Emile Smith Rowe's career.

Fulham have paid over €30m to acquire the 24-year-old, even though he only played 671 minutes of action in all competitions across the 2022-23 and 2023-24 campaigns combined.

Nevertheless, if Smith Rowe can regain his peak performance, he will be an exceptional player for Fulham, and this agreement will be considered significant.

17. Khephren Thuram - Juventus (€20.6m) - Nice

Khephren Thuram was anticipated to join the Premier League upon his departure from OGC Nice. However, Juventus has emerged victorious in pursuing his signature, paying just over €20 million to acquire the Frenchman.

Juve required a suitable replacement for Adrien Rabiot after his contract expired, and Thuram undoubtedly met that criteria.

He is adept at advancing the ball up the field and possesses the defensive acumen necessary to compete at the highest level of European football. This is an exceptional signature.

16. Metz to Lyon - Georges Mikautadze (€18.5m)

Georges Mikautadze has agreed to a €18.5m summer transfer to Olympique Lyonnais following his recent victory in the Euro 2024 Golden Boot.

Lyon will be confident that Mikautadze will immediately contribute to the team despite the inherent uncertainties when acquiring a player who has demonstrated exceptional talent at an international tournament.

After rejoining Metz in January, the Georgian international scored 11 goals and provided one assist in 17 Ligue 1 games. He has since returned to his birthplace for a relatively modest fee.

15. Mats Wieffer - Feyenoord to Brighton (€30m)

Brighton & Hove Albion have finally secured a suitable replacement for Mats Wieffer, one year after the departures of Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister.

Even though most players have found the transition from the Eredivisie to the Premier League to be difficult, Wieffer, a central midfielder at the Champions League level, has the potential to surpass this trend.

He is an exceptional all-around midfielder in all aspects of the game, particularly in the distribution of the ball from deep.

14. Alvaro Morata - AC Milan (€13 million) - Atletico Madrid

Even though Alvaro Morata has been subjected to ridicule for nearly his entire career, he has consistently been a reliable goalscorer for each club where he has played.

After captaining Spain to victory at Euro 2024 and netting 21 goals in 48 games for Atletico Madrid last season, he has joined AC Milan for a mere €13 million.

Milan's starting striker will be Morata, who will succeed the departing Olivier Giroud. Morata's contributions could be substantial as Milan endeavors to surpass Inter at the summit of Serie A.

13. Douglas Luiz - Juventus to Aston Villa (€51.5m)

Douglas Luiz was instrumental in Aston Villa's qualification for the Champions League last season, and his transfer to Juventus is a significant success for the Old Lady.

The Brazil international is an exceptional central midfielder. It will be instrumental in Juve's pursuit of regaining their position at the pinnacle of Italian football, even though the fee of €51.5m is quite substantial.

12. Archie Gray - Leeds to Tottenham (€41.25m)

Tottenham Hotspur has placed their faith in Archie Gray's potential; however, his preliminary performances indicate he may be a future world-beater.

Gray was exceptional in his début season in senior football at Leeds United last season, where he played at both right-back and central midfield. He exhibited exceptional technical proficiency and tenacity off the ball.

Gray may not be an immediate starter at Spurs, but he has the potential to become a fixture for England. His €41.25m fee may prove to be a bargain in the future.

11. Serhou Guirassy - Stuttgart to Borussia Dortmund (€18m)

Last season, Serhou Guirassy emerged on the scene at 27.

After scoring an astonishing 30 goals in 30 games for Stuttgart, the Guinea international was transferred to Borussia Dortmund for €18 million in the summer.

Given that Chelsea and Manchester United were also interested, that price is an absolute bargain for a player at the apex of his career.

10. Aleix Garcia - Girona to Bayer Leverkusen (€18m)

In the previous campaign, Girona emerged as the unexpected surprise of La Liga, and Aleix Garcia was one of their most notable players.

Garcia was an essential member of Michel's team, as he established the tempo in midfield and was a cool customer in the park's midst.

He has joined Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen for a mere €18 million, and his arrival will bolster a midfield that already includes Granit Xhaka, Exequiel Palacios, and Robert Andrich. This is an exceptional signature.

9 Joao Palhinha - Fulham to Bayern Munich (€51m)

Bayern Munich has been in dire need of a defensive midfielder for years, and they have eventually secured Joao Palhinha from Fulham after their unsuccessful attempt to acquire him in 2023.

The Portuguese international was one of the most talented midfielders in the Premier League during his two-year tenure at Craven Cottage. He will serve as a source of protection for Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic in the Bayern midfield.

8. Endrick - Palmeiras to Real Madrid (€47.5m)

Endrick, a Brazilian wonderkid, signed a contract with Real Madrid in December 2022. However, he has only recently joined Los Blancos after turning 18.

There is no doubt that Real Madrid has acquired a future superstar; however, he will be gradually incorporated into the senior squad at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The fee of €47.5m is substantial; however, it may be perceived as a bargain shortly.

7. Pascal Gross: Brighton for Borussia Dortmund (€7 million)

Pascal Gross completed a memorable transfer to the club he supported as a child at 33.

Brighton's Germany international has retired as a club legend after seven years at the AMEX Stadium. He is unquestionably one of the most underrated performers in Premier League history.

Gross was instrumental in Brighton's ascent to the English top-flight table and will offer Dortmund valuable depth and quality for a mere €7m. He is capable of playing in virtually any position on the pitch.

6. Matias Soule - Juventus to Roma (€25.6m)

Matias Soule was on loan at Frosinone during the previous season.
Matias Soule is a treasure that Juventus has lost. Last season, the 21-year-old was on loan at Frosinone, where he tallied 11 goals and provided three assists in 36 league appearances.

Juventus will regret the departure of the talented Argentine, who was a beacon of hope in a depleted Frosinone squad.

Roma have executed a masterstroke by signing one of the most talented teenage players in Serie A for €25.6m.

5. Joshua Zirkzee - €42.5 million transfer from Bologna to Manchester United

The Dutchman is an exceptional acquisition, even though Joshua Zirkzee will not be a guaranteed starter at Man Utd due to the presence of Rasmus Hojlund.

Although he has yet to demonstrate his ability to be a clinical finisher, his all-round game is immense. Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho will greatly benefit from his exceptional link-up play.

Man Utd have executed an exceptional feat by signing Zirkzee for less than €43m, given the fees that have been proposed for other strikers in Europe.

4. Riccardo Calafiori—Bologna to Arsenal (€45 million)

The finest defense in Europe is now arguably Arsenal's, following the signing of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.

The Italy international, a standout performer at Euro 2024, will be an immediate sensation at the Emirates Stadium. He is one of the finest defenders in the world of football.

Man City spent €90m on Josko Gvardiol last summer, which is why €45m is an outlandish fee. Calafiori could decide between a Premier League title and another disappointing second-place finish.

3. Xavi Simons - PSG to RB Leipzig (Loan)

RB Leipzig has successfully re-signed Xavi Simons on a season-long loan deal, even though he was sought after by nearly every major European club.

He is the sole player on this list who has not signed a permanent contract, and there is a valid reason for this.

Last season, Simons made 40 appearances in the Bundesliga and Champions League, scoring 23 goals and providing assists. He will be instrumental in Leipzig's pursuit of the German top flight this season.

2. Michael Olise - Bayern Munich to Crystal Palace (€53m)

The past five years have seen Bayern Munich's drawing power called into question; however, the acquisitions of Harry Kane and Michael Olise in consecutive summers have resolved those concerns.

Olise, 22, contributed a goal or an assist every 80 minutes in the Premier League last season and can play for any club in the world.

Bayern secured his signature in the face of stiff competition from Chelsea, Manchester United, and other teams, and they will benefit from the agreement this season.

1. Kylian Mbappe - Real Madrid (Free Transfer) - PSG

Kylian Mbappe's free transfer to Real Madrid is the most noteworthy 2024 summer transfer window acquisition.

France International is widely considered the most talented player in the world, and he signed a Bosman contract to join his dream club after scoring 256 goals in 308 PSG games.

Real Madrid was the presumptive favorite to win the Champions League without Mbappe, and it would be an extraordinary surprise if they could not retain the trophy after the 25-year-old's arrival.
