Furious Following Luke Shaw's most recent injury setback, Manchester United fans have demanded that the club release him from his contract.
United stated on Tuesday that the English full-back, who missed much of last season with a slew of injuries, will miss the start of the 2024–25 Premier League season with a calf injury.
Some United fans demand that the Manchester club terminate Shaw's contract after his latest injury setback.
"Put him down," X user Josh the fan posted.
Someone going by the handle Simply Utd said: "Luke Shaw is a very calculating player. He works hard to get a new contract and is good enough to play for England.
'Injured' is the injury declaration he intends to make for Manchester United before the transfer window shuts, so he may keep doing this until he gets employed. Joke of the century.
"Luke Shaw's injuries aren't just "poor luck" alone. He's just never ever taken care of his body or dedicated himself enough (diet, injury prevention, etc.)," questioned a fan going by the handle Ronaldo Brown, who asked the defender's commitment. You can coast through a career like Shaw's because he was gifted from an early age.
The X-user Harry called Shaw an "embarrassment" at the same time.
Mufc fan advised: "Just terminate his contract."
After injuring his hamstring in February, the 29-year-old was sidelined for the rest of United's 2023-24 season, including their 2023 FA Cup final triumph.
The Three Lions' Gareth Southgate included him in their 26-man squad for the European Championship. However, he was not fit to play until the quarter-finals and only got 177 minutes of action in Germany.
It will likely be until the first international break in September before the ex-Southampton defender returns. On Friday, United will host Fulham at Old Trafford to begin their Premier League campaign.
