Marc Guehi, the hero of England's Euro 2024 squad, has been associated with a potential departure from Crystal Palace.
Gareth Southgate selected Guehi, 24, after demonstrating his abilities at the core of the Palace defense during the 23/24 season.
Guehi was initially considered a backup, but Harry Maguire's injury necessitated that the Palace player serve as Stones' companion.
England advanced to the final, where they were defeated by Spain 2-1 in Berlin. Guehi played in all but one game due to a suspension.
Guehi has been associated with numerous prominent Premier League teams, such as Arsenal and Liverpool, due to his exceptional performances for Palace and England.
Nevertheless, it was reported on Friday afternoon that Newcastle United has initiated negotiations to acquire the 24-year-old from Palace.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, who posted on social media, "EXCLUSIVE: Newcastle United have initiated negotiations with Crystal Palace to sign Marc Guehi."
The 24-year-old England center-back is on the radar of numerous top-tier clubs; however, #NUFC is the first to initiate negotiations following an approach to #CPFC this week. @TheAthleticFC, this would be a very significant achievement.
Guehi is "high on the recruitment lists at several of Europe's biggest clubs," according to the report.
Nevertheless, Newcastle has initiated the process of acquiring the center-back by initiating "meaningful discussions."
The report further stated, "Palace received Newcastle's approach this week, and if agreements can be reached, it will provide Eddie Howe's team with a significant boost ahead of the new season."
There are no indications that Guehi will be signing a new contract at Selhurst Park, as his contract is scheduled to expire in the summer of 2026.
Newcastle is reportedly negotiating a deal to acquire William Osula from Sheffield United, who were relegated, and Guehi.
