Cristian Romero, who just won the Copa America, plays for Tottenham Hotspur and is a player that Real Madrid wants to sign.
Many people think that the Argentine center-back would be a great replacement for Leny Yoro if Real Madrid hadn't been able to sign him. Yoro instead joined Man United.
Real Madrid knows, though, that the negotiations will be tough. Daniel Levy, the chairman of Tottenham Hotspur right now, is known as one of the hardest businessmen to deal with in sports because he always wants to fight hard and is impossible to crack.
Tottenham put a ridiculous €175 million price tag on a Real Madrid player they want to sign.
Paul O'Keefe, a reliable Tottenham Hotspur source who spoke on the Last Word on Spurs show, said that Daniel Levy has told Real Madrid they need to pay £150m (€175m) to sign Cristian Romero.
Now that the 26-year-old has signed up for another three years in North London, Tottenham has the upper hand.
Tottenham Hotspur fans really like Cristian Romero. Even though the Argentine center-back has had problems with discipline, no one can doubt his desire to play for his team.
People like him because he works hard. Last season, he scored 5 Premier League goals while playing center-back.
Real Madrid shouldn't feel they must sign a center back right away. But Antonio Rudiger is at the top of his game, and Eder Militao wants to return to being at his best after being hurt for a long time last season.
Still, Carlo Ancelotti probably thinks he needs to replace Nacho Fernandez, which makes sense since he's a club hero.
But €175 million is not a good way to describe Cristian Romero's skills.
This means that Real Madrid should check things out, but if Daniel Levy is serious about this ridiculous price, Real Madrid should look elsewhere.
It's too bad that it really is that easy. That amount is way too high for Romero to be worth.
