Villa Eyes Felix Move, But Doubts Linger

Aston Villa wants to sign Joao Felix this month, but Atletico Madrid needs to lower their price tag for the forward so that Unai Emery's team can do so.

Atletico Madrid is ready to let Joao Felix leave this summer, especially since they bought Julian Alvarez from Manchester City for £82 million (€95 million or $104 million).

Felix played a lot for Atletico in the preseason, and even though he and boss Diego Simeone have fallen out, the La Liga team still wants to get his salary off their books this summer.

Villa has spent much money this summer, and Emery said the club wants to get players like Felix.

Emery's dreams may soon come true after making it to the Champions League this season, though The Mirror reports that worries about Atletico's asking price and Felix's pay could make the deal difficult.

While Aston Villa spent more than €176m (£150m/$192m) on eight new players this summer, no other football team in the world has spent more. One of those players is Amadou Onana.

Next week, Villa's first game in the Premier League is away at West Ham. The club isn't likely to make any new signings before the season starts, as they're more likely to focus on selling players.

Diego Carlos and Jhon Duran are still being linked with moves away, and Felix might only be able to come in once one of them leaves in a big way.
