The father of Lamine Yamal, Mounir Nasraoui, was allegedly attacked with many knife wounds in a parking lot close to Barcelona before being taken to a hospital.
The 36-year-old Nasraoui was allegedly assaulted at a parking lot in the Spanish town of Mataro, which is located along the coast from Barcelona, on Wednesday night, according to La Vanguardia.
After requiring emergency medical treatment, Nasraoui is currently in stable condition; nonetheless, his status was critical.
According to the newspaper's sources in the area, the confrontation escalated from a brawl that started in the parking lot.
Immediately after the attack, Nasraoui was taken to the neighboring Can Ruti hospital by emergency personnel.
Nasraoui received urgent treatment at the hospital halfway between Mataro and Barcelona and around six kilometers away.
There have been contradictory stories on his discharge, but according to Mundo Deportivo, he is still being monitored at the medical center.
According to MD, three individuals have been apprehended thus far as a result of the assault investigation that Mataro police have initiated.
Although the specific motivations for the attack are still unknown, it is thought that the stabbing might have stemmed from a previous confrontation.
Later that night, Yamal posted a selfie with his dad to social media, accompanied by several heart emojis. The message was later removed, though.
The impact of Yamal's father on his life and work is something he has frequently discussed.
With Nasraoui's constant support, Lamine has blossomed into one of Europe's most exciting young footballers and was there for the Euro 2024 final.
The winger's availability for Saturday's La Liga match against Valencia at Mestalla has cast doubt on his return to action for Barcelona.
