Alan Shearer Urges Marcus Rashford to Leave Manchester United for a Career Revival

Alan Shearer has urged Marcus Rashford to consider leaving Manchester United to rejuvenate his stalling career. Since the beginning of last season, Rashford’s form has noticeably dipped. After scoring 17 Premier League goals in the 2022-23 season, his tally plummeted to just seven last season, and he has yet to make a goal contribution this term. This decline in form led to the 26-year-old being omitted from England's Euro 2024 squad.

Although Rashford may be aiming for a return to the international stage under interim manager Lee Carsley, he was not selected for Carsley’s first squad. Shearer believes that a fresh start away from Old Trafford might be essential for Rashford if he hopes to rejoin the England setup.

Shearer expressed his views to Betfair, stating: "In his current form, I don't see Marcus Rashford reviving his England career. I don’t personally know his mentality or his approach to training, but the only path forward is to train diligently and maintain the right attitude."

"From an outsider’s perspective, it seems to me that Rashford should have left Manchester United to reignite his career. He’s become stagnant for some reason, and things haven’t been working out for him for quite some time. Only Marcus can answer how much he wants to get back to scoring 30 goals a season."

Manchester United's next match is against Southampton on September 14, followed by the start of their Carabao Cup campaign against Barnsley.
