Barcelona Unveils Long-Awaited 2024-25 Away Kit: A Sleek Tribute to Their 125th Anniversary

Barcelona and their supporters have faced an extended wait for the unveiling of the club's 2024-25 away kit, despite the team already having played two LaLiga matches on the road this season.

Interestingly, for their first match under new coach Hansi Flick—a 2-1 victory at Valencia on August 17—the team donned last season's yellow fourth alternate kit. In their subsequent three games, they sported their new half-and-half home jersey. However, the wait for the new away kit has finally paid off, as Barça has introduced a design that was worth the anticipation.

This season’s away kit marks only the fourth time the club has chosen black for its alternate strip, with previous versions appearing in 2011-12, 2013-14, and most recently in 2020-21. That last iteration featured a gold-tinged design that resonated strongly with fans. This year’s edition is a minimalist yet striking creation. The club crest and Nike swoosh are blacked out, accentuated with an iridescent blue and red sheen, enhancing the stealth aesthetic of the jersey. The iconic blaugrana stripes are asymmetrically placed along the flanks, adding a subtle yet distinctive touch.

In celebration of Barcelona's 125th anniversary, the club has also incorporated a bespoke anniversary scroll logo inside the shirt, just beneath the back collar.

While the new kit undoubtedly impresses with its sleek, stealthy design, history has shown that black jerseys have not always been synonymous with winning the most coveted trophies.
