England's Lauren Hemp, Lauren James, and Lucy Bronze have earned nominations for the prestigious Women's Ballon d'Or, highlighting their exceptional performances in recent seasons.
Other stars from the Women's Super League (WSL) joining them on the 30-player shortlist include Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw, Mariona Caldentey, Sjoeke Nuske, Mayra Ramirez, and Yui Hasegawa. Organized by France Football, this year's nominees reflect a diverse mix of global talent.
Bronze and Caldentey helped Barcelona secure the Champions League title last season before moving to the WSL, joining Chelsea and Arsenal, respectively. Shaw, representing Manchester City, finished as the WSL’s top scorer but saw her team fall just short of the title, losing out to Chelsea.
Lauren James played a pivotal role in Chelsea's fifth consecutive WSL triumph. This achievement came during Emma Hayes' final season as head coach before her move to lead the USA Women's National Team (USWNT). Both Hayes and Lionesses' coach Sarina Wiegman have been named in the shortlist for Coach of the Year, alongside Sonia Bompastor, the new Chelsea head coach.
Chelsea, alongside Barcelona, is one of five clubs shortlisted for the Women's Team of the Year, recognizing their dominance on both domestic and European stages.
