Galatasaray Eyes Casemiro as Manchester United Consider Midfielder’s Departure

Galatasaray is reportedly considering a bid for Casemiro, with Manchester United open to offloading the Brazilian midfielder. Casemiro's position at United has come under scrutiny following his lackluster performance in the team's 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday. The 32-year-old was substituted at halftime after his errors contributed to Liverpool’s first two goals, both scored by Luis Diaz. This disappointing display has raised questions about Casemiro's future at Old Trafford, making a move to Galatasaray increasingly plausible.

United's openness to Casemiro’s departure has been evident throughout the summer. Since his high-profile transfer from Real Madrid in 2022 for £60 million ($79 million), Casemiro has been one of United’s highest earners, with weekly wages reportedly exceeding £300,000 ($394,000). Galatasaray’s interest might present a viable option for both sides, though the financial details of the deal are complex. Casemiro's substantial salary could be a major obstacle for the Turkish club, and a potential loan deal might depend on United’s willingness to cover part of his wages.

Casemiro's status as a regular starter is further jeopardized by the arrival of Manuel Ugarte. Acquired on deadline day for an initial €50 million (£42.3 million/$55 million) from Paris Saint-Germain, Ugarte adds significant depth and competition to United’s midfield. Although Ugarte was ineligible to play against Liverpool due to registration issues, he will be available for selection after the international break.

With the Turkish transfer window open until September 13, Galatasaray will continue to evaluate their options, with Casemiro appearing as a top target. A move to Turkey could offer Casemiro a fresh start and a new challenge, while for Galatasaray, securing him would represent a notable coup following their acquisition of Victor Osimhen from Napoli, enhancing their efforts to build a formidable squad.
